Speech 4: Demonstrative (aka "How-To")
For this speech, I will be looking for a strong (declarative) introduction and conclusion as well as appropriate use of props or visual aids. The packet, including the prompt, rubric, and citation sheet, is attached below. Speeches are due this Thursday (you know the order of who's going first... if not, the sub has plans that explain it). On speech day, you will hand in: an outline, your sources list (Works Cited or the attached sheet filled out), and your rubric.

WINDOWS LIVE MOVIE MAKER TUTORIAL INFO:
Now that you've chosen your speech(es), here are some links to help you understand how to use Windows Live Movie Maker (aka WLMM):
An overview/Intro - Start at 1:15, unless you're working from home and need to download the program:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Our school computers go into "Deep Freeze" every night; also, every time they're shut down, they lose all their saved information. SO! You need to save all of your file clips to a flash drive or your home computer. When you open your WLMM project, you'll see your video clips have little red X's in the corners. Right click on them to locate the original file (should be saved to a flash drive or your personal computer). THEN you can continue working on your project.
BEFORE YOU FINISH - you must "FINALIZE" your project. This is essentially publishing it, so that all the clips are one long video clip, a finished project.
TO USE YOUTUBE VIDEO CLIPS: use YTDDownloader to convert the link into a video clip with which you can work. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE THESE SOMEPLACE OTHER THAN THE SCHOOL COMPUTERS... unless you can reserve a computer for several hours to complete this task.
You'll also benefit from using Google Chrome for this video project instead of Firefox or IE.

Speech 10: Interview
Please review the attached below. The documents contain your project prompt, tips for preparing and presenting a speech of this type, and the rubric.
Also note the following:
Also note the following:
- Deadlines are enforced in order to stay on pace to finish all speeches before the end of the year. This will allow you time to present your Final "Exam" Speech. (More info to come on that.) It will be one letter grade off per day it is late.
- You will have an ample amount of time to prepare for this speech (1.5 weeks + weekend in the middle). I am giving you the time for this to allow you to schedule an appointment with the person you're interviewing and then prepare it. Please note that the last speech included a full week of computer lab time; the class time up until 4/12/13 will not include nearly as much computer lab time. You will have 2 days (Weds. & Thurs.) to prepare the presentation and meet with me. Class time up until then will include information on interviews, finding jobs, resume writing (EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY), etc.
